First Swim Lesson
Amidst the moving on the 24th, we also had Brayden's first swim lesson at the Y. The instructor had us hand our baby to her, get in the water and then she handed him back. I introduced him to the water, but he seemed nervous about it. Nikki had us walk down to the end of the pool and back a few times but he still wasn't crazy about it - in fact - he was clutching to me. After that we sat them up on the ledge and counted to 3 and had them "jump" into the pool. He loved sitting up on the ledge, but didn't want to get back in the pool. The last thing we did was have them (all 3 of the babies) sit on a piece of foam together and they splashed around. That was his favorite part of the class. So I'm looking forward to next Monday to see if he likes it any better!
Moving Fiasco
Well, we spent the weekend of October 22nd packing up 42 Honeysuckle and then moved everything out on Monday the 24th. We put just about everything in storage and took a few things to my parents where we'll stay until we can move into our house. We went back on Tuesday to get the last of what was left, cleaned up the house on Wednesday and the new couple had their walk through on Wednesday night. Well, we had left a few things behind intentionally - leftover kitchen tiles, paint that we used, etc. We also left behind a few things that we didn't realize were there by accident. They decided that we needed to go back and clean out the rest of what was left. We felt like we had already given them a bunch in seller assist, moved out when they asked us to and been accommodating in general to their requests. So Lark let them know that if they were going to make us go back and clean out what was left, everything was going to go. They insisted, so we did. And we got rid of everything - including the tiles, paint, screen door, toilet paper. Lark went back in the morning to meet the guys picking up the trash and their real estate agent was there (on our property!) to take back things out of the trash that they wanted! What nerve! So Lark waited until he left and put it all back in the trash. Then went off to closing and when we finally met them in person they were just as rude and bitchy and we thought they would be. Luckily it's all over now - one house is sold, the other one is purchased and now we just wait for a date to move in!
Bye Bye Honeysuckle House!

Pumpkin Fest... Take 2
Yesterday we left early and managed to get to Enola for the pumpkin fest. There was a lot less traffic and we got in at the right time, as everything was opening up. We had Brayden in the stroller and he just looked around in curiosity and took it all in. We took him out of the stroller to pet some of the animals they had there - goats, sheep, bunnies and a few other things, but he seemed a little scared.
And today was fun - Aunt Kati had off work for Columbus day so she came up for a visit. We played with Brayden for a while and then went over to Fire Fusion, the new restaurant in Camp Hill. It was really great but I'm glad we ended up going at 2:00 pm because it wasn't very busy so Brayden wasn't really disturbing anyone when he decided to be loud. We also took her by the new house so she could see where we are moving. We played some more when we got back and not too long after she left Brayden was standing next to the couch and not holding on. Then he took 2 steps before he fell! It was the most balanced he's looked while trying to stand and move. We tried to get him to do it again, but no luck - that was it.

Pumpkin Fest... or not
I got Brayden up and ready this morning, picked up my parents and headed to the Pumpkin fest in Enola. Wasn't much traffic until we got right around the corner and then it just stopped. Must not have been anyone directing the traffic because we sat and sat and sat and didn't really move much at all. We ended up giving up and heading to Chick-fil-A for lunch instead. Thinking we'll try again tomorrow. Then we headed over to the new house to learn how to close up the pool for the season. We got to give my parents the tour and found a renewed sense of excitement for the move. I was getting anxious already, but now I'm really ready for it to be here. Our move in date for that house is November 30th, but after talking to the owners today, it sounds like it's going to be much closer to November 15th, and possibly even earlier depending on when their build is ready. So that was great news! Now I've really got to get moving on packing up things here at Honeysuckle. Ordered some boxes that are supposed to be here Monday so then I should be able to make a lot more progress. Also went over to the Milner's tonight so Brittany could take pictures of Brayden for her photography class for school. I didn't see many of them, but the few I did turned out great and I can't wait to see the rest!

Being GF
Oh being gluten free... we went for sushi at the new place Sakura tonight, and I generally know what to order based on what I can and can't have. So I ordered 2 rolls and a salad. The rolls came and one of them was covered in some sauce (that it didn't mention on the menu). I had to ask what it was and they checked... of course it had soy sauce in it. What doesn't? The nice thing was they made a new roll and didn't charge us for the other one, but I always feel terrible. One of those things that if it was something I didn't like, I would just eat it and be done with it, but because I'll get sick, I really just can't. Stinks...
Brayden's 6 Month Appt
We went to the doctor on Wednesday for Brayden's 6 month check up, which overall went well. (October 5th) The doctor said that he was doing things physically that he usually sees with 10 month olds. I knew he was advanced, but didn't realize how much. Kind of scary if he keeps up this pace. He said that we are ready to start introducing more foods - meats, eggs and peanut butter sometime between now and 9 months. Research is showing that introducing the foods earlier gives them less of a chance of having a food allergy. Also, once he starts to get teeth, which should be soon because he's showing signs, we can begin to give him finger foods like cheerios. We also got his stats: 16 lbs 10 oz and 27 in long. Weight is in the 48 percentile and height is in the 25th. So he's a shorty. Finally, he got his shots which was rough like always, but he survived and has just been fussy since. Next checkup is at 9 months.
